Pobl Group is a registered social landlord and owns a significant amount of housing stock in Blaenymaes – a key regeneration area in Swansea. Pobl our help to explore the options to undertake an intensive investment programme in the area. The aim was to better understand the key issues, and to assist in determining where best to focus your development resources, you would like some support for an initial scoping exercise to identify key issues and some initial suggestions for how they might be addressed through further, more detailed study.
What we did
We conducted an analysis of the built form of the area and an appraisal of the key urban design issues that make for an unsustainable neighbourhood. We presented the analysis to Pobl’s senior management group, followed by a written report. We then assisted Pobl to convene a multi-stakeholder group to begin exploring the issues and potential solutions in the area and advised on Pobl’s written submissions for funding support.
Impact of our work
Our work was very well received and has influenced Pobl’s thinking about this and other areas in which the organisation has housing stock. Our work has formed the basis of Pobl’s regeneration strategy for the area, which Pobl is beginning to develop with its partners.
