Talking ethical business for Global Entrepreneurship Week

Talking ethical business for Global Entrepreneurship Week

Big Ideas Wales is a Business Wales initiative that encourages and offers support to young people to start their own business. As part of the programme Big Ideas Wales sponsors entrepreneurs to go to schools, universities and youth groups to talk about their journeys as entrepreneurs.

Our Director Ben Reynolds is one of their Big Ideas Role Models and often talks to young people across the Swansea region about his own experiences as a social entrepreneur.

As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Ben was invited to University of Wales Trinity Saint David to talk to current students about starting up a social enterprise. He also discussed the role businesses can play in making positive ethical impacts.

Urban Foundry is also a certified B Corporation and Ben talked about social responsibility and the commitment we have made to embrace ethical thinking in every part of our business from the cleaning products we use to the projects we run.

Our Uplands Market project is also a social enterprise and Ben explained the structure of the business and how it was created with sustainability at its heart.

In addition to Urban Foundry, other speakers at the event included Julia Manser, Heidi Griffiths, Tanya Igic, Ben Reynolds and Julia Manser. The session was hosted by Caroline Thraves from UWTSD.

You can book Ben to talk at your own University, school or youth group as part of the Big Ideas Wales programme by contacting us.
