Susie Johnston

Susie Johnston

Susie is our market day manager on site at various street market events we have set up across Swansea Bay.

A local resident, Susie started volunteering at our Uplands Market project on the very first market in Gwydr Square in 2013 and has been a part of the markets ever since, loving the community atmosphere and bringing high quality food and crafts to the people of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. The volunteer role shifted into working for us in 2020 as we brought the markets back from the first pandemic lockdown.

Before working with us, Susie worked in primary and special education for 25 years, latterly running the home tuition service in Swansea, organising education for children and young people who cannot access education in schools.

Having taught yoga for many years, massage seemed a good fit when it came for a change in career, and so she retrained as a clinical massage therapist, and now runs a successful and busy practice getting people out of pain and moving again. Susie also runs a second business locally – making and selling a massage wax which is sold online across the UK.

On her rare days off Susie loves to read, knit and get out into the beautiful Gower, adding a couple of fantastic adventures to her portfolio, including trekking to Everest Base Camp and White Water Rafting in Bhutan.
