Gareth is an experienced and highly creative Marketing & Communications professional with over 20 years’ experience in strategic marketing, brand development, and digital engagement. A proud Swansea native, Gareth grew up just two minutes from Urban Foundry’s HQ and began his marketing career at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (then Swansea Institute of Higher Education), where he served as Lead Press Officer from 2003-2009 after graduating.
Gareth rejoins Urban Foundry having previously worked with the team between 2016 and 2017, bringing back not only his deep local knowledge but a wealth of experience gained across the third sector – particularly in the field of mental health. Over a 15-year period, he held senior roles at Mind charities in South Wales and at the national headquarters in London, where he helped shape and deliver UK-wide awareness campaigns. He’s also been a vocal advocate in campaigns that have shared real experiences of mental health challenges, drawing on his own lived experience to help reduce stigma and inspire change.
His career spans a broad range of marketing disciplines, including content creation, campaign strategy, press and media relations, social media and digital marketing, and brand management. He has led major rebranding projects, managed successful fundraising and awareness campaigns, and collaborated with national brands such as JD Outdoors, Kleenex, and McVities on campaigns to bring mental health to the forefront of public conversations.
Gareth is passionate about supporting organisations with a strong social purpose and brings a values-led approach to his work at Urban Foundry.
