The Urban Foundry Academy

The Urban Foundry Academy

The Urban Foundry Academy works with talented students from our home town universities – University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) and Swansea University. We have strong relationships with both Universities and provide engaging projects for the students to work on.

The students who work with us gain work experience and employability skills and we benefit from their creativity, knowledge and enthusiasm. Some students have gone on to work with us beyond the end of their internships. You can see some of the feedback we’ve had from previous placements below.

Through our Academy we’ve been lucky enough to work with many students who have made valuable contributions to our projects. Students have come from disciplines as diverse as: Advertising & Brand; Business; Centre for Innovative Ageing; Geography; Graphic Design; and Event Management courses and have worked with us on a wide range of projects such as: Last Clothing; Swansea Bay Markets; Quadrant Shopping Centre Pop-up Workshops; Unit Nineteen; and in work for local government, people in communities, and a range of third sector groups.

“Urban Foundry provided me with valuable work experience and gave me a head start when I graduated.”

Ross Weaver, former Advertising & Brand student at UWTSD

“I joined Urban Foundry as an intern as part of my Event Management Degree. When my internship finished I was offered a part-time job with them. I’m now helping to run their Unit Nineteen venue and am about to start studying for a Masters in Business Administration. It has given me new skills and confidence. It’s been a fantastic experience.”

Siobhan Thomas, former Event Management student at UWTSD

“Urban Foundry run a lot of projects so no two days are the same and that’s amazing! I experienced so many different event management roles throughout my internship. The team are all lovely and willing to help with absolutely anything I needed. I’ve loved the past seven weeks and look forward to the rest of my internship and hope to volunteer with Urban Foundry and Unit Nineteen in the future.”
